Post Date:10/01/2018 10:30 AM

Registration will be open throughout the month of October for the City of North Port’s annual Home for the Holidays Program.

The program provides a way to connect qualified North Port households with organizations, businesses, and individuals who want to help during the holiday season. This year, the annual Home for the Holidays Program will consist of two parts – an Adopt-n-Shop program and a Senior Giving Tree.

Through the City of North Port’s Adopt-n-Shop program, income eligible families who are registered through the Home for the Holidays Program are adopted by individuals, organizations, or businesses during the holiday season.

Families who want to be part of the Adopt-n-Shop program can register Oct. 1-31, 2018. Registration is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in October. Register by calling the City’s Social Services Division at (941) 429-3700 or visiting the Social Services Division’s offices, located on the second floor of the Family Service Center, 6919 Outreach Way.

Senior Giving Tree

The City of North Port’s Senior Giving Tree is designed to provide local seniors a special experience through a holiday luncheon.

The Senior Giving Tree is for seniors ages 60 and above. Seniors must be North Port residents and must provide proof of residency with a valid ID during registration. To register, visit the North Port Senior Center or the Senior Friendship Center at 4940 Pan American Blvd, North Port, FL 34287. The North Port Senior Center is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. The Senior Friendship Center is open 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Space in the program is limited. Registration is available Oct. 1-31, 2018 until the program is filled.

The Senior Giving Tree holiday luncheon will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the North Port Community Education Center.
