Parks & Rec Summer Camp Now Accepting Counselor in Training Applications

Post Date:02/25/2019 1:00 PM

With a wide variety of safe, fun, and engaging activities - the annual Parks & Recreation Summer Camp provides positive and life-changing experiences for children and teens entering 1st through 8th grade. Depending on the camper's upcoming grade school level, they will join either the Xtreme Teen Camp program or the GMAC Summer Camp program.

Parks & Recreation is now accepting applications to the Counselor in Training (CIT) Program. Intended for students entering 9-12th grade for the 2019-2020 school year, it provides an invaluable opportunity for high school students to receive professional camp counselor training.

“It is a great opportunity for young people to develop their leadership and professional skills over their summer break,” said Samantha Cremen, Recreation Program Coordinator. “It gives them a chance to experience camp from the leader’s point of view as they help plan and lead daily camp activities alongside experienced mentors.”

To apply download the application and submit it in person at the Morgan Family Community Center - 6207 West Price Blvd. or the George Mullen Activity Center - 1602 Kramer Way. For more information, contact the City’s Parks & Recreation Division at 941-429-PARK (7275) or visit
