Florida Quadricentennial Monument to be Renovated at Warm Mineral Springs Park
The monument in front of Warm Mineral Springs Park commemorating the Florida Quadricentennial is in the process of being refurbished. A local contractor, Splashmosaic, was awarded the work and will be endeavoring to preserve the look and feel of the existing monument.
Tile samples are currently being reviewed to ensure consistency with the original design. Once tile is found and approved, work will begin. The existing design will be slightly modified in order to keep the original red and yellow tiles on the monument.
“Part of our mission includes preserving our cultural resources,” said Tricia Wisner, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation. “The monument for the Florida Quadricentennial is a unique and important part of the Warm Mineral Springs Park history. We’re happy to be preserving it for future generations to enjoy.”
Splahmosaic was on site this past Sunday, April 7, to test and patch a few areas which needed repair. They will also be on site this Friday, April 12 around 10:00 a.m. for additional prep work. The project is currently scheduled to begin on April 22, 2019 and is expected to take a couple of weeks to complete.
