Come learn about North Port at Newcomer Day in 2018
The City of North Port will host North Port Newcomer Day from 10 a.m. to noon on February 3, May 19, and November 3, 2018 at the George Mullen Activity Center, 1602 Kramer Way. Up to 60 nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and businesses will have information tables at this expo-like event.
The event is designed to engage residents in their community and inform them about what is happening. New residents and residents interested in learning more about North Port are invited to attend.
There will be free Parks and Recreation Division activity demos at each event. Bring your tennis shoes and participate.
Information tables will be hosted by a wide variety of organizations, government agencies, and businesses. The City of North Port collaborates with the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce on the organization of this event, including the presence of many local businesses. The Sarasota County Tax Collector will be onsite to answer questions about Florida drivers licenses. City departments will be available, including the General Services Department, the Utilities Department, and more. North Port City Commissioners also will have a table to answer questions.
Nonprofit organizations are invited to register for North Port Newcomer Day at no cost by downloading and completing a registration form and returning the completed form to Parks & Recreation at the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 West Price Boulevard. Space is limited. Businesses interested in participating should contact the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce at (941) 564-3040.
The City of North Port is seeking gold, silver, and bronze level sponsorships for the North Port Newcomer Day series this year. One sponsorship will include all three events in the series. For a breakdown of the tiered sponsorship levels, visit www.cityofnorthport.com/sponsor. The Newcomer Day series averages 800 attendees collectively each year. Funding collected from sponsorships will help offset the cost of providing the event at no cost to the community and also enhance event amenities.
The event is being organized by the Parks and Recreation, a division of the General Services Department. For more information about Newcomer Day, contact Recreation Program Coordinator Jay Auxier at (941) 240-8123 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
