New construction projects and the remodeling of existing commercial structures require a building permit. Permits are issued by the Building Department, located at 4970 City Hall Blvd. North Port Fire Rescue District staff review new construction projects to ensure compliance with all code requirements for fire and life safety features. After a certificate of occupancy is issued, the Life Safety Officer annually conducts fire safety inspections to ensure that commercial, multi-family residential and home day care occupancies are properly maintained and continue to comply with life safety codes. Fire inspections for new construction, certificates of occupancy and changes of occupancy are also scheduled through the Building Department. For additional information, contact the Building Department at (941) 423-3186. |
