Womens Empowerment Self-Defense
 ••• Come to the introductory class, June 24th  for only $20 •••

North Port Parks & Recreation will be hosting a self-defense course designed for all women 16 and up.  The course will focus on leverage-based techniques, not striking, to overcome some of the most realistic scenarios.  Groundwork will be covered extensively.

The instructor for the course is Michael Weisensee, a former owner/operator of a martial arts center who has been teaching martial arts for over 25 years.  He holds a 4th-degree black belt in both Taekwondo and Hapkido, is a Level-3 certified Krav Maga instructor, and is also a certified HaganaH instructor.  Mr. Weisensee also holds a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu and a Purple Belt in Gracie Jiujitsu.

Fundamentals of TRX Suspension Training
This 6-week course will focus on the fundamentals of TRX in order to build a strong foundation of the correct body positions needed to perform TRX exercises. Wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes; bring water and a towel. Space is limited. Advance registration required.
Age: 16 and up

Senior Fitness
Functional fitness exercises designed for seniors to help improve daily life movements that keep you safe and living independently. Classes cover the basics of exercise, strength and balance. Participants will be using a chair for additional support and their body as resistance.
Age: Senior 55+

5K Run Club
Have you ever wanted to run a 5k but never thought you could? Now is the time to set free your inner runner! This is the chance to train to run a 5k race. Novice runners will learn how to safely begin running and improve their endurance throughout the 8-week program. Participants completing the 8-week program will receive a discount on the Firecracker 5K Race entry. All you need is a pair of running sneakers and a need to succeed!
Age: 15 and up

Strength, Agility, and Resistance 
This fitness class is focused on increasing strength, agility, and speed for sports through the use of specific exercises and resistance training. No class 9/4

Personal Training
Discover the benefits of working with a certified personal trainer. Improve strength, flexibility, endurance, posture, balance, and coordination with a customized fitness program designed to achieve your individual fitness goals. Training sessions can be scheduled by the half hour and hour.

Fee: $35/30 minutes; $60/60 minutes

Fit-Teen University
A training course for teens covering the fundamentals of exercise along with exercise safety, fitness center rules, etiquette, and equipment use. Upon successful completion, teens age 13-15 will receive membership privileges without parental supervision.

Jazzercise
Choreographed to today’s hottest music, Jazzercise is a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, and kickboxing.

Fee: $12 per class or $40 monthly

Pilates
Core/strength training designed to increase flexibility and improve core strength. First class free to new participants.

Yogarobics
Rediscover the joy of movement! Mature adults will learn movements designed to stimulate a stronger, fuller, and more comfortable lifestyle using techniques from yoga, jazz, and modern dance. Standing and/or seated, with or without shoes, these simple movements will improve coordination, flexibility, balance and strength while also increasing personal power and confidence. First class free to new participants.

Saturday Fitness
 A 45-minute full body work out that involves cardio to increase your heart rate and strength training to sculpt arms, glutes, and core.
Age: 16 and up

Zumba
A fun energizing workout that’s great for your body and mind! First class free to new participants.
Age: 13 and up
Fee: $8 per class/ $40 for 8 classes

Zumba Step
A Zumba class that combines traditional dance steps, aerobic fundamentals and fitness combinations while providing a lower body challenge.

Line Dancing
Line Dancing is an easy way to have fun while you exercise your body and mind. Wear smooth bottomed shoes with backs and bring water. First class free to new participants.

Line Dance Socials
Grab your dance shoes and join us for a fun line dance social! Bring your friends and dance the afternoon away - no partner needed. It’s exercise without realizing you are actually exercising. For all skill levels.

Martial Arts
Attend traditional martial arts and learn Shaolin Hung Gar and Yang Style Tai Chi.
