Walk in the park

The City of North Port has 26 parks and facilities, including:

  • 2 community centers
  • 3 outdoor sports facilities
  • 4 community parks
  • 10 neighborhood parks
  • 7 special use/green space areas

A sampling of the activities available at our parks are: camping and hiking in nature at the equestrian friendly Mayakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park; launching a canoe or kayak at one of the five parks along the Blueway, the city’s aquatic trail system; cooling off at the Atwater Park Splash Pad; and participating in group sports at Butler Park. These are just a few of the things that can be done at City of North Port parks.

Also available at some of our parks are pavilions for rent. These pavilions are the perfect outside venue with easy access to the other park amenities for parties and social gatherings.

Through an interlocal agreement the baseball fields located at Atwater Park, multi-use fields at Butler Park, softball field at Dallas White Park, football fields at the Larry Thoennissen Athletic Fields, and softball/soccer fields at the Narramore Sports Complex are all managed, maintained, and available for rental through Sarasota County’s Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources department.
