Every October, the City celebrates City Government Week in an effort to reach out to residents and connect them with their community.
City Government Week is a program first started by the Florida League of Cities. The week of October 18-24, 2009 will be known as City Government Week statewide and celebrated in many Florida cities.
The City will kick off the celebration with a resolution that will be read by the North Port City Commission during a meeting on September 28, 2009.
Many activities are being scheduled in anticipation of the event, including:
- The scheduling of speaking engagements by City Commissioners, administrators and department directors throughout the community. If your organization is interested in having a city official as a guest speaker, please contact Utilities Public Relations Supervisor Peggy Parillo at (941) 240-8007 or at mparillo@cityofnorthport.com.
- A photo opportunity for North Port residents. Beginning October 1, 2009, any North Port resident is welcome to submit a photo that depicts their favorite aspect of North Port. The submitted photos will be included in a slide show on the City’s website and during a City Commission meeting at the end of October. For complete details, click on the left menu item "Submit a photo."
- The scheduling of City Hall tours. If you have a club or organization interested in getting a tour of City Hall, contact Community Outreach Manager Erin Bryce at (941) 429-7165 or at ebryce@cityofnorthport.com.
