Updates and maintains the North Port Comprehensive Plan. Develops and coordinates various master plans, and coordinates other long-range planning issues including demographics, transportation and environmental issues.
- Implements the goals, objectives and policies of the adopted City of North Port Comprehensive Plan;
- Processes administrative interpretations of the Comprehensive Plan, including clarifications of land use map boundaries;
- Reviews and processes annexation requests, including required Comprehensive Plan Amendments;
- Processes large- and small-scale amendments to the City of North Port Comprehensive Plan;
- Monitors, evaluates and updates the Comprehensive Plan as required by State Statute;
- Works with local associations, citizens and advisory board members to plan for the future of North Port;
- And acts as liaison to various regional planning authorities.
