  • Staff worked to prepare for the Braves Stadium opening this weekend, checking and monitoring lift station function at the facility and setting a temporary bypass pump for redundant backup.
  • Field Operations Staff began installation of a new reclaimed water line along Springhaven Dr., completing the installation of 340 ft.
  • The City of North Port was featured in an article in Water Equipment & Technology magazine this week.  The article chronicles the development of the City's water and wastewater infrastructure since the 1950's.
  • Staff worked to make adjustments in the system to accept water from the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority.
  • Staff conducted interviews for the vacant Customer Service Representative I position.
  • Staff attended the monthly Capital Improvement Program meeting for current projects and had the opportunity to present FY 2020 requested projects.
  • Purchasing staff attended the Gulf Coast Association of Governmental Purchasing Officers "Reverse Trade Show and Conference".
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel responded to 181 incidents. These responses included two residential fires, three outside fires, 137 EMS calls, seven hazardous conditions, 18 service calls, two good intent calls, and 12 false alarms.
  • Fire Rescue crews began co-habitation this week with Sarasota County Fire Department by the West Villages portion of the City at County Fire Station #26, which will also be called City Station 86 until a permanent location can be found in the West Villages.   • Price Boulevard Public Information meeting scheduled for March 21, 2019.

  • Grid 205 (located North of Price Boulevard and west of Cranberry Boulevard) Contractor to Mobilize to the N. Cranberry and Chipley Avenue area on March 25, 2019.
  • NPPD sponsoring free course on Church safety and how to build a safety team among church staff. Additionally, how to identify warning signs before something happens. 
  • NPPD participate in a game of Kickball with the children at the Gene Matthews Boys and Girls Club.
  • Honored to announce that Commander Bobby Platt will be attending the Southern Police Institute (SPI) Command Officers Development Course (CODC).  The CODC is SPI's 400-hour flagship educational program for law enforcement mid to upper-level managers which provides a solid foundation for practical law enforcement administration and a comprehensive overview of management practices. This training is offered in five (5) two-week sessions over a period of five months.
  • Staff completed one Access Point/One by 1 coordinated assessment utilizing the Homeless Management Information System.



  • Staff completed four LIHEAP financial applications utilizing external funding
  • Staff referred one client to St. Vincent De Paul for assistance utilizing external funding

  • Crime Scene Unit - Two CSU Technicians attended Crime Scene Photography class which was 40 hours each, Two Technicians also attended a Safe Firearms Handling class in Lee County that was 16 hours each.
  • Telecommunications - 458 - Calls for service, 1311 - Calls for service to include officer self-initiated events,
  • 40 - Calls via 911, 8:41 - Average call received to 1st dispatch


  • Reconstruction of Water Control Structure to begin in April of 2019.
  • Contractor completed drainage work on Mulgrave Avenue and started the work on Parkmount Terrace.
  • San Mateo and Price Boulevard sidewalks design is underway.
  • Biscayne Drive Bicycle Lanes 60% plans were submitted by the consultant and staff is reviewing the plans.
  • Sidewalk construction continues along Eldron/Crittendon.


    • The Historic & Cultural Advisory Board met with a primary focus to discuss an oral history project.

  • Parks & Recreation staff processed 20 Achieve Anything memberships consisting of 12 annual memberships, 3 one-month memberships, 3 three-month memberships, 1 D-Fy membership, and 1 city employee membership. 
  • A total of 1,228 membership and daily/drop-in visits were made to the Morgan and Mullen Community Centers.
  • There were 18 facility rentals for a total of 43.25 hours, 13 Scout House rentals for a total of 23.5 hours, and 7 pavilion rentals for a total of 18.5 hours.
  • Parks & Recreation staff facilitated 7.5 hours of community service at the Community Centers this week.
  • Parks & Recreation staff received 4 High Five awards this week.
  • Binglo was held on Friday, March 15, with 22 families (72 people) attending.
  • Community Yard Sale was held on Saturday, March 16, with approximately 400 people attending.
  • Men’s League registration is open, and the season starts April 1.
  • Movie on the Green will be held on March 29.
  • Tea Time will be held at Morgan Family Community Center on March 30.
  • Summer Camp registration is outpacing last year with GMAC up 11% and Teen Camp up 7% from the same time last year.
  • Staff continues to develop the departments FY20 requested budget. 
  • Projects in progress include: at Warm Mineral Springs Park; Myakkahatchee Creek Greenway Trail; Blue Ridge Park parking lot improvements; Community Education Center parking lot improvements; Warm Mineral Springs Park Master Plan; Atwater Splash Pad Shade Installation, Butler Park Playground Replacement, Boundless Adventures Playground Phase II; North Port Aquatic Center; CAPRA Accreditation; completion of new youth league agreements.


  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel responded to 181 incidents. These responses included two residential fires, three outside fires, 137 EMS calls, seven hazardous conditions, 18 service calls, two good intent calls, and 12 false alarms.
  • North Port residents called in 17 smoke detector service requests. Fire Rescue personnel checked 82 detectors, replaced 76 batteries, and installed five detectors.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel approved 46 P-card transactions and processed 140 invoices totaling $86,818.95 for goods and services.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel purchased $3,408.02 in EMS supplies and pharmaceuticals.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel continue developing and updating the departments Standard Operating Guidelines (S.O.G.’s).
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel continue to submit pictures and video to the City Public Information Officer for posting on the City web site.

  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel conducted and completed one special event permit fire and life safety inspection.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel completed 13 commercial plan reviews.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel attended one formal consultation with the Atlanta Braves representatives regarding their project.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel completed two City capital improvement project reviews for the community education center parking; CIP-18-258 and Blue Ridge Park Parking Lot; CIP-18-254 and two (2) Pre-Application Plan Reviews for The Woodlands; PRE-19-047 and West Villages Sidewalk; PRE-19-048.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel conducted and completed two fire alarm final acceptance testing and inspections, one fire alarm rough inspection, three fire and life safety inspections, two commercial hood suppression system acceptance tests and two fire underground rough inspections.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel conducted five formal site visits of the Atlanta Braves construction area.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel conducted and completed a fire and life safety inspection for issuance of one certificate of occupancy and four re-issue certificates of occupancies.
  • North Port Fire Rescue personnel conducted and completed 21 annual and 18 follow-up inspections.


  • Processed 164 invoices and paid 90 vendors totaling $1,416,873.07 for goods and services provided to the City.
  • Processed $1,205,468.96 in cash receipts from utility payments, Warm Mineral Springs, and other miscellaneous sources.
  • Purchasing staff processed 14 purchase orders, 9 p-card approvals, 2 agenda items, and 23 vendor updates.
  • Payroll staff processed payroll for 633 employees.
  • Performed cash receipts daily.
  • Audited p-card statements.


  • IT Completed 63 Service Tickets.
  • IT provided technical support for a Commission Regular Meeting and a Commission Districts Meeting.
  • 2 IT Members attended Enterprise Connect - this allows us to attend conferences and explore and evaluate new technologies, which assists us in developing our future technology road map.
  • IT Finished the migration of backups to the new data domain appliance.  This new appliance triples our backup capacity


  • Engineering staff monitored the water main tie ins at the Renaissance development in the West Villages, Cypress Falls and in the Eager St. and Grobe St. areas.
  • Engineering staff was on site for a water main pressure test at the West Villages Market Place.
