North Port families encouraged to register in June to receive school supplies during the Back to School Resource Fair
Hosted by the Social Services Division, North Port families can register, at the Family Service Center, during the month of June to receive free backpacks and supplemental school supplies for school-enrolled children at the Back to School Resource Fair. All registrations must be received by July 1, 2019. Registration will begin on June 1, 2019 and will end June 30, 2019.
The Back to School Resource Fair will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Morgan Family Community Center. This expo-like event will feature exhibitors with resources for families with school-age children.
Registration will occur from June 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019 at the Family Service Center, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Registration is open to low-moderate income eligible North Port families, with students attending public school. The Family Service Center is located at 6919 Outreach Way.
“The Back to School Resource Fair offers an opportunity to connect with resources available for you and your child. This is a great way to kick off the school year,” said Social Services Manager Janet Carrillo.
Organizations and businesses that want to donate school supplies are welcome to drop off donated items by July 1, 2019 to the Social Services Division, Family Service Center, Second Floor, 6919 Outreach Way. Items needed include: three-ring binders, 24-pack crayons, eight-pack washable markers, 12-pack colored pencils, large pink erasers, yellow highlighters, pens, No. 2 pencils (not mechanical), pencil pouches with zippers, 12-inch rulers, wide-ruled filler paper (100-150 pack), college ruled filler paper (100-150 pack), spiral notebooks (1 subject, wide ruled), and spiral notebooks (1 subject, college ruled).
During the month of June, stop by the Social Services Division Office at the Family Service Center to register.
