Register Today for a Float in the Annual Poinsettia Parade
The Parks & Recreation Department is inviting organizations, individuals, and businesses to submit their applications today for a parade unit in the annual Poinsettia Parade. The Parade, an annual North Port tradition, will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019. This year’s theme is “North Port Diamond Jubilee” in honor of the City’s 60th Anniversary.
Presented by Quality TV, the Poinsettia Parade will travel south on Sumter Boulevard beginning at 5:00 p.m. The route will turn into City Center, march past City Center Green, head west on City Center Boulevard, and right onto the Grand Venture toward Price Boulevard. Spectator viewing will be available along the edge of Sumter Boulevard from Sylvania Avenue to City Hall Boulevard and throughout City Center. For safety reasons, no spectators will be permitted in the median of Sumter Blvd.
Parking will be available at the City Center Campus until 4:00 p.m., when the roads will close, or at the Morgan Family Community Center (6207 West Price Blvd.), where there will be a free shuttle service to the festivities. Parking will also be available at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market (1100 S Main St).
In the past, the parade has featured more than 50 units, including local businesses and organizations. Those interested in participating can download an Parade Unit Application on the City’s website at www.CityofNorthPort.com/Poinsettia and return it via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or in person at either the Morgan Family Community Center or the George Mullen Activity Center.
