Roadwatch Report 8-14-17

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones.  Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

Pavement Rejuvenation will continue in many E. Price Blvd neighborhoods:

Crews will be performing pavement rejuvenation in neighborhoods along the following streets (see map here):

  • Jeannin Drive
  • Johannesberg Road
  • Nordendale Boulevard
  • South Haberland Boulevard

Pavement rejuvenation is usually applied to roads generally paved within the last 3 years and adds 3-5 years to the life of the road.  Asphalt pavement is rehabilitated by applying chemical products designed to restore original properties to aged (oxidized) asphalt binders.  Rejuvenators delay the loss of surface fines and reduce the formation of additional cracks.  Rejuvenators are generally appropriate for low-volume, low-speed roads.

Work is anticipated to last a few weeks.  Please use caution by paying attention to traffic signs, barricades and detour routes.  For more information about this project, please contact the Department of Public Works at (941) 240-8050 or email pwcustservice@cityofnorthport.com.

The City of North Port will be installing angled parking spots along the US 41 Access Road, between Almonte Terrace and Landover Terrace and between North Port Boulevard and Bolander Terrace.   A Florida Job Growth Grant application was approved by City Commission to fill the funding shortfall of the construction of this project.  The grants were submitted for both projects.  If awarded a grant – providing needed funds for construction, staff would rebid the project.  As of this week, there is no update regarding an award of the grant.
