Roadwatch Report for the week of January 27 – January 31
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.
Milling continues in Coldwater Lane/Cake Terrace neighborhood:
Milling crews will continue working in the Cake Terrace/Coldwater Lane neighborhood. They have been working in preparation for upcoming asphalt resurfacing. A freshly paved roadway is on the way!
However, before paving crews can enter the area, additional milling is required. This is necessary to prepare a safe, clean and stable road base for resurfacing. Once the additional milling is completed, paving crews will begin working in the area. Our goal is to provide a new durable and smooth road surface that will service the neighborhood for many years.
Continue to use caution when traveling on Deming Avenue:
Crews are in the process of completing a neighborhood drainage project on Deming Avenue. The roadway is open to traffic, but use caution when traveling through the area. Construction crews are still working along the roadway and installing sod in the neighborhood.
Please use caution by paying attention to traffic signs, barricades and detour routes. For more information about this project, please contact the Department of Public Works at (941) 240-8050 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I-75 from Exit 182/N. Sumter Boulevard to Exit 191/N. River Road:
This project replaces sections of guardrail along the interstate. The contractor is Acme Barricades, L.C. Expected completion is late 2019.
US41 Linear Parking Project:
The City of North Port will be installing angled parking spots along the US 41 Access Road, between Almonte Terrace and Landover Terrace and between North Port Boulevard and Bolander Terrace. A Florida Job Growth Grant application was approved by City Commission to fill the funding shortfall of the construction of this project. The grants were submitted for both projects. If awarded a grant – providing needed funds for construction, staff would rebid the project. As of this week, there is no update regarding an award of the grant.
