FEMA Issues New Preliminary Flood Maps, Open Houses Scheduled in North Port

Post Date:02/26/2020 3:39 PM

Know your flood risk! FEMA has revised flood maps in the City of North Port and Sarasota County to incorporate storm surge, high tides, wave action in addition to freshwater inputs. Preliminary flood maps dated December 31, 2019, are available and can indicate whether your property’s flood risk has changed. If your risk has changed, flood insurance may be required by your lender when the new flood maps become effective.

Property owners, renters, realtors, mortgage lenders, surveyors, insurance agents and developers are all invited to attend upcoming open houses where FEMA and local officials will answer questions about the proposed changes.
