In Sarasota County’s continued effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19, and to help better protect the community and employees, the following changes are in effect for Solid Waste facilities.  Sarasota County’s Chemical Collection Centers will reopen with limited access for hazardous waste disposal beginning on Monday, May 18:



Central County Landfill

  • For disposal customers and contractors.
  • RC Fliers Club (members only).
  • Only accepting credit card payments. No cash transactions

Hazardous Waste Drop-off Sites (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. "Walk-ups" will not be accepted.)

  • Citizens' Convenience Center (at the Landfill)
  • Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center
  • Jackson Road Chemical Collection Center


 Central County Landfill

  • Admin Office
  • Landfill “amenities” including birding/nature observation and mulch/compost

 Hazardous Waste Drop-off Sites

  • Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center Admin Office
  • The Re-Uz-It Shop (at the Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center)



In order to maintain social distancing guidelines, and to protect the health and safety of staff and the community, drop-off will be BY APPOINTMENT ONLY by calling 941-861-5000.  Waste technicians will have a list of scheduled daily appointments and “walk-ups” will not be accepted.

Appointments are scheduled every 30 minutes and are available between 8 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. at the following locations:

Sarasota County will continue to monitor the situation and modify or cancel appointments according to state and local guidelines.



Residents/businesses should arrive no more than 15 minutes early for their appointment. Anyone arriving early should wait in their car in the parking lot until the appointment in front of them has departed the drop-off area.

At the designated appointment time, residents/businesses should pull their vehicle into the drop-off zone and remain in their car. Sarasota County Hazardous Waste technicians will remove the items for disposal from the vehicle.



Disposal for Sarasota County residents is free, however limits may apply. Residents are asked to let us know what they will be bringing for disposal on the appointment request form so that staff can plan accordingly.

Applicable disposal rates will apply for businesses. Payment must be made by credit/debit card (cash and/or checks will not be accepted).
