Protect Your Home & Build to Code
Mitigation increases occupant health and safety during a disaster, protects the local tax base, ensures continuity of essential services, and supports more rapid recovery from disasters.
Installation of shutters, generators and other hurricane season preparations you may choose to make often involve consulting first with the North Port Building Division. Many installations require issuance of permits and inspection of the work by our Building Inspectors. Please don’t hesitate to call us at 429-7044 if you have any questions.
If you are thinking of hiring someone to perform work at your home, be certain they are registered with the City of North Port Building Division. Anyone who does electrical, plumbing, mechanical or structural work must be licensed by the State and registered in the City of North Port.
The Building Division also requires every contractor to have general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance. Please visit our Business Tax & Contractor Information/Look-Up page or call 429-7188 to learn if the contractor you selected is licensed in North Port.
