The responsibilities of the Criminalistics Unit includes documenting crime scenes and collecting physical evidence. Scientific methods are utilized to detect and preserve forensic evidence. These personnel work closely with investigators to build criminal cases against perpetrators and testify to their findings in court.
In addition they are responsible for the intake, storage and disposal of all items that come into the possession of the police department.
