Welcome

Social Services is a division within the Neighborhood Development Services Department and was established in 1980 to assist families and individuals in need of short term financial assistance.  Our mission is to ensure the availability, awareness, and accessibility of programs and resources in the community, and to assist families and individuals while improving their overall quality of life.

Social Services is a tax-exempt governmental entity funded by the City of North Port. Additional funding sources are received through grants, generous individuals, churches, civic groups, schools and collaborative partners. These charitable funding sources, collaborative partners, and other outreach programs enable us to provide assistance to families and individuals that are experiencing a short term unavoidable financial crisis.

COVID-19 ASSISTANCE - PLEASE CALL 2-1-1 FIRST

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sarasota County has enacted the 2-1-1- system to address requests for information and assistance. You can access 2-1-1 by phone, email, chat or text (just text your zip code to 898-211). Reaching out will get you connected to a multilingual 2-1-1 specialist in your area who can put you in touch with local organizations providing critical services to improve and save lives. Visit www.211.org or download this flyer regarding 2-1-1 for further information.
